2007 – Ford SYNC® Powered by Microsoft
Starting in the 2008 model year, Ford began to release vehicles with the first-ever SYNC® system. SYNC® was developed in collaboration with Microsoft. The system provided tools that would help keep drivers connected on the go, while staying safe with their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. The first SYNC® offered hands-free calling, voice-activated tools and control over audio, navigation, and the first Bluetooth® connectivity.
2007 – Backup Camera
In 2007, Ford added a backup camera as a stand-alone option in several Ford vehicles at Bob Thomas Ford Inc . The camera display was located in the corner of the rearview mirror allowing drivers to easily use both the camera and the mirror for confident reversing.
2009 – EcoBoost® Engines
As Ford releases new vehicles each model year, it strives to improve efficiency and power under the hood. In 2009, the brand debuted its first lineup of EcoBoost® engines. These engines offered enhanced power and greater efficiency than regular engines of comparable size and have been a popular choice ever since.
2014 – First Aluminum Body Ford F-150
The release of the 13th generation Ford F-150 introduced a pickup truck crafted with an aluminum body, which cut the weight of the Ford F-150 by 750 pounds, improving performance, capability, and efficiency.
2016 – Ford Smart Mobility, LLC
Ford Smart Mobility was created to put focus on developing the most intuitive, seamless, and useful forms of technology and connectivity in the Ford lineup. It introduced the newest version of infotainment, the SYNC® 3, as well as the Ford Pass mobile app.
