Performance & Efficiency
The Escape’s four-engine lineup offers an impressive balance of strength and efficiency. The standard 1.5-liter EcoBoost® comes with Auto Start-Stop Technology that reduces fuel consumption in stop-and-go traffic. With the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost®, the Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds, making it perfect for family getaways and outdoor expeditions.
The newly improved hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines put miles and miles between trips to the pump. Coming in less than a third the size of previous generations, the hybrid engine fits snugly underneath the Escape for a more spacious interior. The Plug-in Hybrid charges in 10 to 11 hours with a normal 110-volt plug, while a 240-volt charger can fill the battery in only 3.5 hours. Plus, both the 2.5-liter iVCT Atkinson-cycle hybrid and plug-in engines are capable of towing up to 1,500 pounds.
With All-Wheel Drive Disconnect, the Escape can switch from two- to four-wheel drive for better traction or better efficiency. And with Selectable Drive Mode, you can choose from Eco, Sport, Normal, Slippery and Deep Snow/Sand for enhanced performance, all easily seen from the available reconfigurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Interior Design
The new interior is all about space, with best-in-class rear legroom of 40.7 inches thanks to the all-new second-row sliding seats. It allows back passengers a more comfortable experience, or a better cargo capacity when folded down with a maximum 65.4 cubic feet.
Its driver-oriented infotainment system offers SYNC® 3, which puts music, navigation, and convenience features right at your fingertips. Integrate your Apple or Android device directly into the Escape to access your favorite playlists and apps, use Waze Technology for navigation with up-to-date traffic, or partner up with Ford+Alexa to bring the power of Amazon on the road.
